Cast light versus self-lit pixels.
Projection works by casting light from a projector onto a screen, which suits dim rooms but loses contrast and brightness in lit spaces and needs lamp maintenance. A direct-view LED video wall forms the image from the LEDs themselves, so it stays bright and readable in daylight, shows a seamless picture with no bezels, and scales to almost any size indoors or outdoors. For bright spaces, large formats and round-the-clock viewing, an LED video wall is usually the stronger choice. PeopleLink builds its Active LED range as one OEM.
Brightness
LED stays bright and readable in lit rooms and daylight; projection needs a dim space.
Scale and shape
LED panels tile to almost any size or aspect ratio; projection is limited by throw and screen.
Maintenance
LED has no lamps to replace and can be serviced at the panel level; projectors need lamp upkeep.
