LED Display Systems — Indoor and Outdoor
Schedule 1 to the PeopleLink Warranty Policy, applicable to Products in Annexure A category 1.
S1.1 Application
This Schedule applies to Products in Annexure A category 1. The Warranty Period commences on the Commissioning Date in accordance with Clause 3.2 of the Policy.
S1.2 Acknowledged characteristics
The Customer acknowledges that:
(a) the failure of individual LEDs at low rates over the life of an LED display is an inherent characteristic of LED technology;
(b) the luminance of LEDs declines gradually with operating hours;
(c) LEDs are manufactured in production batches ("bins") of varying colour and brightness characteristics; and
(d) moiré or scan-line effects visible when the display is photographed or filmed arise from the interaction of camera equipment with the display refresh cycle.
None of the foregoing shall of itself constitute a defect.
S1.3 Defects
Without limiting Clause 4 of the Policy, the following shall constitute a defect:
(a) failed LEDs exceeding 0.05% of the LEDs on any single module, or five (5) or more failed LEDs adjacent to one another anywhere on the display;
(b) any continuous line, row or column of failed or flickering pixels, howsoever short;
(c) the failure of an entire module, receiving card, sending card, hub board or power supply;
(d) luminance of the display falling below fifty per cent (50%) of rated luminance before 50,000 operating hours, as recorded by the controller as recorded by the controller (authorized by PeopleLink);
(e) colour or brightness deviation of any module exceeding a colour difference exceeding ΔE*₀₀ (CIEDE2000) of 3 relative to adjacent modules after calibration by PeopleLink; and
(f) flicker perceptible to the unaided eye which persists after power quality at the site has been verified as compliant with S1.6.
S1.4 Matters not constituting a defect
The following shall not constitute a defect:
(a) failed LEDs at or below 0.01% of the total LEDs of the display, none adjacent, which shall be rectified at the next scheduled service visit;
(b) module seams visible at less than the minimum viewing distance stated in the datasheet;
(c) the matters acknowledged in S1.2;
(d) image retention or burn-in arising from prolonged display of static content, which is excluded under Clause 7.1(l) of the Policy.
S1.5 Batch matching and calibration
PeopleLink may, at its sole discretion and subject to availability, endeavour to supply replacement modules, cabinets or any other part or component of the display from the same production batch as the installed display, but shall be under no obligation to hold, reserve or procure batch-matched stock for any period. Where batch-matched modules are not available, PeopleLink shall supply modules from the nearest available batch, and any resulting difference in colour, luminance or appearance shall not constitute a defect. Batch-matched sourcing, colour matching, recalibration or any similar measure requested by the Customer may be undertaken by PeopleLink at its discretion as a special request, and shall be chargeable at PeopleLink's prevailing rates, communicated to and approved by the Customer in advance; any timeline indicated for such work is an estimate only and shall not be binding.
S1.6 Conditions of cover
Cover under this Schedule is conditional upon:
(a) earth resistance at the installation not exceeding 1 Ω and neutral-to-earth voltage not exceeding 2 V;
(b) power supply through a stabiliser or online UPS at 230 V ± 10%, and, for outdoor installations, through surge protection;
(c) operation within the temperature and humidity range stated in the datasheet; and
(d) for outdoor installations, the IP sealing, glanding and drainage installed at commissioning remaining unbreached.
Damage attributable to non-compliance with this clause is excluded.
S1.7 Service
PeopleLink shall determine, at its sole discretion, whether warranty service under this Schedule is rendered on-site or by return of the affected part to PeopleLink. Where PeopleLink so requires, the Customer shall dismount and despatch the affected modules, cabinets, cards or power supplies to PeopleLink in proper packing in accordance with Clause 6.6 of the Policy, and freight shall be borne in accordance with Clause 11.7 of the Policy. PeopleLink shall not be liable for any damage arising from dismounting, packing or transport undertaken by or on behalf of the Customer. Where service is rendered on-site, PeopleLink shall replace at module, card or power-supply level and shall remove the faulty parts. Recalibration of the display or of the affected area, where required, shall be undertaken in accordance with S1.5.
S1.8 Wear parts
Cooling fans, filters and inter-cabinet data cables carry a warranty of six (6) months.
