Audio Electronics — DSPs, Amplifiers and Speakers
Schedule 6 to the PeopleLink Warranty Policy, applicable to Products in Annexure A category 6.
S6.1 Application
This Schedule applies to Products in Annexure A category 6 and Schedule is subject to Clause 6.8 of the Policy.
S6.2 Acknowledged characteristics
The Customer acknowledges that hum, buzz or noise induced by earth loops, neutral-earth faults or other conditions of the building electrical installation originates outside the Product, and that operation of an amplifier into a load below its minimum rated impedance, or at sustained clipping, imposes stresses for which the Product is not designed.
S6.3 Defects
The following shall constitute a defect:
(a) rated output power below minus ten per cent (−10%) of the published RMS rating into the rated load;
(b) total harmonic distortion exceeding the published specification at rated power;
(c) channel imbalance exceeding 1 dB;
(d) noise floor exceeding the published specification by more than 3 dB;
(e) failure of any published DSP processing block, channel or input/output;
(f) hum or noise reproduced by the Product under isolated bench-test conditions;
(g) entry into protection mode at or above the minimum rated load impedance; and
(h) voice-coil failure, rub or buzz of a passive speaker at or below rated power, not attributable to S6.4(b).
S6.4 Matters not constituting a defect
(a) Hum, buzz or interference which does not reproduce under isolated bench-test conditions;
(b) driver failure attributable to clipping, over-driving or operation below minimum rated impedance, which shall be treated as a customer-induced defect;
(c) loss of DSP configuration following power interruption, which PeopleLink shall reload at no charge from the configuration recorded at commissioning;
(d) acoustic performance of the installed system in rooms materially different from the design brief.
S6.5 Conditions of cover
Rack ventilation and clearance per the installation manual; speaker lines at or above minimum rated impedance; earthed, stabilised supply as per S1.6(a)–(b).
S6.6 Service
Return-to-base service for rack equipment; on-site service for installed and ceiling loudspeaker systems and for system-level diagnosis where a fault cannot be isolated remotely.
S6.7 Wear parts
Fuses, cooling fans and terminal blocks — twelve (12) months.
