Cameras — Pan-Tilt-Zoom, Tracking, Videobar and Webcam

Schedule 5 to the PeopleLink Warranty Policy, applicable to Products in Annexure A category 5.

Back to Warranty Terms

S5.1 Application

This Schedule applies to Products in Annexure A category 5.

S5.2 Acknowledged characteristics

The Customer acknowledges that:

(a) the emergence of a small number of "hot" or defective sensor pixels over the life of an image sensor is an inherent characteristic of sensor technology;

(b) autofocus hunting below the minimum illumination stated in the datasheet is inherent to autofocus systems;

(c) USB 3.x interfaces may radiate interference affecting nearby 2.4 GHz wireless devices; and

(d) automatic tracking performance is specified only for the lighting and contrast conditions stated in the datasheet.

S5.3 Defects

The following shall constitute a defect:

(a) more than three (3) defective sensor pixels, or any two adjacent defective pixels, at any supported resolution;

(b) return to a stored preset deviating by more than ± one degree (1°);

(c) stalling, jitter or abnormal noise of the pan-tilt mechanism within 50,000 preset cycles;

(d) incomplete or stalling zoom or focus travel within the illumination conditions stated in the datasheet;

(e) dust, fungus or contamination inside the sealed lens assembly; and

(f) failure of the integrated microphone array to perform within ± 3 dB of the published specification.

S5.4 Dependence on installed environment and infrastructure

The Customer acknowledges that the performance of a camera — including image quality, frame rate, smoothness, colour rendition, auto-framing and speaker-tracking behaviour, audio pick-up where integrated, and the stability and resolution of the video stream as ultimately displayed or transmitted — is determined not only by the camera but also by the Customer's existing installed environment, including the host computer, codec, room system or unified-communications platform to which the camera is connected and the settings, drivers, firmware and processing capability thereof; the USB host controller, cable type, cable length, hubs, extenders, matrices, baluns or switchers in the signal path; the network, including available bandwidth, latency, jitter, packet loss, VPN, firewall and quality-of-service configuration; the Power over Ethernet class, switch capability and power budget where applicable; and the physical conditions of the room, including illumination level, colour temperature, backlighting, contrast, reflective surfaces, camera mounting height, angle and distance from subjects. The Customer further acknowledges that PeopleLink does not warrant that any camera will achieve any particular result within an environment or infrastructure not supplied, specified or approved in writing by PeopleLink, and that the suitability of such environment and infrastructure remains the responsibility of the Customer. Accordingly, degraded, intermittent, dropped, low-resolution, low-frame-rate, delayed or otherwise unsatisfactory video or camera behaviour shall constitute a defect only where the camera, tested in its factory-default state following a factory reset and on current firmware, connected directly by the cable supplied or specified by PeopleLink to a host meeting the minimum specification stated in the applicable datasheet, with no extender, hub, matrix or third-party application interposed, and under the lighting and range conditions stated in that datasheet, fails to achieve the resolution, frame rate and field of view so stated within a tolerance of ± twenty per cent (20%). Completion of L1 remote diagnosis and of the isolation test described in this clause shall be a condition precedent to any claim hereunder, and where no defect is established, any diagnosis, re-configuration, re-imaging, integration support or site attendance undertaken by PeopleLink shall be chargeable in accordance with Clause 12 of the Policy.

S5.5 Matters not constituting a defect

(a) The matters acknowledged in S5.2;

(b) behaviour, incompatibility, loss of function or degradation arising from any change to a third-party operating system, platform, application, service, protocol, certificate, codec, security requirement or interface occurring after the date of sale, including the withdrawal, deprecation or modification of any feature or interface relied upon by the Product. The Customer acknowledges that such changes are outside PeopleLink's control and that PeopleLink gives no warranty or undertaking that any Product will remain compatible with, or continue to interoperate with, any third-party platform as that platform may from time to time be changed. PeopleLink may, at its sole discretion and without any obligation to do so, develop and release a firmware or software update addressing such a change; PeopleLink gives no assurance that any such update will be developed, that it will be released within any particular time, or that it will restore any particular feature or level of performance, and the technical or commercial feasibility of any such update shall be determined by PeopleLink alone. Where PeopleLink elects to release such an update generally, it shall be made available to the Customer at no charge; but under sole discretion any update, adaptation, re-engineering, re-certification, integration or testing requested by or undertaken for a particular Customer, and any deployment, on-site upgrade or re-configuration of Products in consequence of a third-party change, shall be a chargeable service in accordance with Clause 12 of the Policy and shall be subject to a separate written scope, timeline and commercial arrangement. No such change, and no delay in or absence of an update, shall constitute a defect in the Product, entitle the Customer to reject or return the Product, or extend the Warranty Period.

(c) lens surface damage from impact or unspecified cleaning agents.

S5.6 Conditions of cover

Mounting per the installation manual; PoE supply within the specified class where applicable; operation within the published temperature, humidity and illumination ranges.

S5.7 Service

Return-to-base service for webcams, videobars and desktop devices; on-site service for ceiling- or wall-mounted units requiring an engineer to dismount.

S5.8 Wear parts

Remote controls, USB and network cables, and mounting hardware — six (6) months.
